Bike tour Highlands of Cuenca and El Madrazo
This route is specially made for those who love mountains! The route is saturated with sites on highlands of the Central and Northern Spain, mountain peaks and passes, canyons and waterfalls. In this trip you will visit the most beautiful corners of Spain: Cuenca with its suspended houses, the Charmed city, the river Cuervo source, you will get acquainted with architecture monuments in Mudejar style and certainly with best traditional cuisine of mountain regions of Spain!
1st Day. Transfer and arrival to hotel 3-4 stars in Laredo (Bilbao or Santander), then presentation of documents and route planning. Welcome dinner.
550 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Priego.
The beginning of the route lies through the mountains Cordillera Cantabrica, we conquer mountain top of Los Tornos and then we arrive to Burgos where we admire the Europe’s largest Gothic Cathedral. Further the route leads to Guadalajara province where we stop in Buendia to enjoy some walking and seeing its “faces forest”, a surprising place where on stones are cut out people’s faces: from a leader of an Indian tribe to the Buddha. In the evening arrival and an excursion to the mountain of Priego, with its Roman bridges and Gothic architecture. On a route there are 5 stops for photos, snack, lunch and sightseeing.
3rd Day. 240 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Priego.
The day will be full of impressions. The first stop in the picturesque village of Solan de Cabras known for its mineral water, further we will enjoy mountain landscapes in Hoces de Beteta, Checa, mountain top of Orihuela, the pine woods of Guadalaviar, a river Cuervo source, Boca del infierno ravine (the hell mouth). Marvelous views, amazing landscapes! The main thing not to forget is the camera! On a route there are 5 stops for photos, having snack, lunch and sightseeing.
4th Day. 110 km. In the evening a stop in hotel of 3-4 stars in Cuenca.
Priego route – Cuenca will be full of beautiful landscapes of Spanish mountains and the woods. We will visit Las Majadas with its falls and unique mountain forms, La Ventana del Diablo gorge (the Window of the Devil) and La Ciudad Encantada (the Charmed City) with their improbable canyons. And finally Cuenca, where we will spend the evening, enjoying views of its unique suspended houses. On a route 4 stops for a photo, having a snack and visit of sights are provided.
5th Day. 160 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Teruel.
The route will pass through Cuenca’s highlands, we will conquer some of the most beautiful tops of Albarracin. After lunch, we will enter in Teruel, the city with the most rich architectural heritage of Mudejar style, and also the homeland of the best jamón in the world – the main symbol of the Spanish cuisine! On a route we have 3 stops for photos, snacks and sightseeing.
6th Day. 310 km. In the evening a stop in hotel of 3-4 stars in Alcañiz.
The route of the day will pass on in El Maestrazgo, with the tremendous beauty of canyons and falls, and fascinating bends of these mountains became a favorite place of the Spanish bikers! Further traditional mountain small villages of the province of Teruel: Ejulve, Villarluengo, Organos de Montoro and a river Cañada valley – 40 kilometers ups and downs! Dinner in one of the most beautiful villages of Spain , Morella located among mountain peaks of Valderrobles. And at the end of the day we will visit the racing route – Motorland. Dinner and rest in hotel in Alcañiz. On the route there are 6 stops for a photo, having a snack and visit of sightseeing.
7th Day. 520 km. In the evening a stop in hotel of 3-4 stars in Laredo.
Departure from Alcañiz, the first stop is in Belchite where architectural collection remains since the Spanish civil war. Further our route goes to Epila with its medieval district wall of the downtown. After lunch we go to the “Tierra del Vino” (Wine’s Land) famous La Rioja: Calahorra, its capital Logroño and city of wineries Haro. After lunch we arrive to Laredo – the final stop of our route, the city well-known 6-km sandy beach. The route ends with a goodbye dinner and some souvenirs detail for participants! 8th Day. Breakfast in the hotel, organizational issues and a transfer in the airport, or you might go on your own route.
