Bike tour – the Center of Spain
This route is made for those to who are interested in history, and also for mountains lovers, who will enjoy cool turns, canyons, mountain serpentines and certainly magnificent mountain landscapes! During this trip you´ll visit the most beautiful cities of the center of Spain: Madrid – the capital of Spain, Segovia with its worldwide known Roman bridge which was built in the I century and has reached up the present in perfect conditions, Toledo – the Vice Goths capital in Spain, El Escorial with its tremendous monastery of the XVI century, Avila with its medieval wall that still protects the city and a lot of other interesting historical places of the Central part of Spain, and certainly will get acquainted with traditions of a local cuisine!
1st Day. Transfer and arrival to hotel 3-4 stars in Laredo (Bilbao or Santander), than presentation of documents and route planning. Welcome dinner.
2nd Day. Route of 400 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in El Escorial.
Departure from Cantabria (or optionally from Bask Country) through its mountain top of Los Tornos with its cool bends and tremendous mountain landscapes, then arrival to Sotopalacios. We cross Burgos and further on the highway to Aranda where we will surely try traditional Castilian dishes in Sepulveda. After lunch we will visit the castle of Turegano, Segovia, rise to the peak of Navacerrada and finish the day in El Escorial where we will visit the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, one of the main architectural masterpieces of Renaissance. On our route there are 6 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
3rd Day. Route of 280 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in El Escorial.
The route of day begins with overcoming the mountain top of La Cruz Verde, further we will plunge into the fairy pine forest of Cebreos, pass along the reservoir El Tiemblo coast, rise to the top of Serranillos and further to the well-known peak of Puerto Del Pico where still remain the Roman road rest. Then we´ll visit San Gotardo ruins. As an end to this busy day, we will visit Avila with its infinite medieval wall and return to El Escorial in the evening. On a route there are 5 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
4th Day. 180 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in El Escorial.
The main route of day will pass through mountain tops of the Madrid province where we investigate each turn. We will dedicate the second half of the day to visit the capital of the Kingdom of Spain – Madrid where we will get acquainted with the richest history of this city, we will make a photo on bikes on the “zero” kilometer of Spanish roads, get acquainted with Madrid’s traditional cuisine and return to El Escorial in the evening. On our route there are 4 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
5th Day. 250 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Guadalajara.
Day begins visiting Toledo, the ancient Vice Goths capital of Spain, which historical center is considered as the world heritage by UNESCO. In Toledo we´ll do some sightseeing and have lunch in a traditional cuisine restaurant. Further on, our route runs to Aranjuez, the favorite residence of the King Felipe II, we will visit the well-known area of the small town of Chinchon and to end the day visit Guadalajara where we´ll enjoy dinner and then rest in hotel. On our route there are 4 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
6th Day. 250 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Guadalajara.
The route of today will pass by the picturesque place of Tejera Negra, full of lonely forest roads, ideal places to get alone with the nature; lost villages of the province of Castilla la Mancha, we´ll stop in one of ten – Riaza. Further, we will go to the typical settlement of highlands of Ayllón – Umbralejo and see ruins of a castle of XI century in Cogolludo. We return to Guadalajara in the evening. On our route there are 5 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
7th Day. 430 km. In the evening return to hotel to Laredo.
The route of today begins on picturesque roads of El Burgo De Osma.. Further, we cross the Rio Lobos canyon, pass through Burgos and by mountain serpentines arrive to Laredo – the final stop of our route, the well-known city of 6-km sandy beach. The route ends by a goodbye dinner and some souvenirs detail for participants! On our route there are 4 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
8th Day. Breakfast in the hotel, organizational issues and transfer in the airport, or you might go on your own route.
