Biker tour – Asturias the Natural Paradise!
During this route you will see the best places of Asturias, it’s a beautiful province in the green coast of Spain and its slogan is “Asturias – the natural paradise!”. You will visit a place where started the kingdom of Spain and the Reconquista mouvement – the sacred place of Covadonga. You will also see natural reserves and waterfalls, medieval small villages and castles, golden beaches of the Atlantic coast. You will enjoy mountain serpentines, cool bends, excellent roads, picturesque landscapes, religious monuments and secular architecture of the pre Romanian era. You will taste Asturian cider which is considered best in the world, their cheeses and a refined cuisine of the North Spain!
1st Day. Transfer and arrival to hotel 3-4 stars in Laredo (Bilbao or Santander), then presentation of documents and route planning. Welcome dinner.
2nd Day. Route of 250 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Gijon.
This morning begins with running the route along the Atlantic Ocean coast, you will enjoy the views of green valleys and highlands, the route will be full of fine panoramas. The first stop is in Llanes – it’s a small fishing town of Asturias with unique multi-colored breakwaters, work of the known Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola. Further onthe the survey platform of El Fitu, which opens a magnificent panorama on 180 degrees! We will go down to Lastres from the top descent full of cool bends, then we walk for site seeing and have lunch. Further our road lies along the natural reservation with areas of oceanic inflow and outflows, several descents and climbings before the arrival to Gijon. We finish the day with a walk around the city and rest in our hotel. On the route there are 4 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
3rd Day. Route of 200 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Navia.
This day we will see the most authentic fishing small villages of Asturias like: Cudillero, Luarca, Tapia de Casariego, all of them are located on a limit of the ocean and mountains! Then we leave Asturias to visit Galicia, starting in Lugo, the small town which beach is recognized as the most beautiful beach in Spain, the second in Europe and the fifth in the world! The name of a beach is “Playa de Las Catedrales” (Cathedrals) describes it perfectly, with their intricate arches turned by the ocean in rocks! Then we return to Navia, have dinner and some rest in the hotel. On a route there are 5 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
4th Day. Route of 250 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Teverga.
Today you are to see and enjoy a day full of mountain serpentines and cool bends. The first stop is in Grandas de Salime where we will visit a mountain reservation. Then we will subdue Palo peak, go down to Cangas de Narcea, with its unique suspension bridge, and then get to Babia valley in the province Leon. After return to Asturias, to Teverga in the evening. On this route there are 4 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
5th Day. Route of 180 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Oviedo.
We leave Teverga towards the mountain village of Sena de Luna, further we submit the peak of Pajares and then a serpentine up to the following peak of El Angliru which is considered as most difficult in Spain, it forms part of cycling competition Vuelta España. In the evening arrival in the capital of Asturias – Oviedo, we will enjoy a walk around the city and have some rest in the hotel. On a route there are 6 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
6th Day. Route of 230 km. The day comes over in hotel of 3-4 stars in Cangas de Onis.
Day of National Park Picos de Europa which is the biggest one in the whole territory of the Iberian Peninsula. Departure from Oviedo to a ski resort of San Isidro, further we will get to the most beautiful mountain small village of Riaño, the mountain lake and conquest of peak of Ponton. Then the route will pass through de Los Beyos and then to the favorite tourists place in Asturias – Cangas De Onis. We will visit the lakes Covadonga and see Saint Cave of the Virgin of Covadonga where the Reconquista started in 722 a.c., according to the legend Blessed Virgin Mary was to help armies of Christians to expel Muslims. It is exactly here where the Asturian Kingdom was born and later on become the Great Spanish Empire, the empress of the seas and oceans arose. On a route there are 6 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
7th Day. 230 km, in the evening return to the hotel in Laredo (Bilbao or Santander).
Departure from Cangas on the northern slopes Picos de Europa turned to the ocean, to Sotres where we will stop to make a photo. Further our route will pass on magnificent landscapes of Arenas and El Mazuco massif, and descent to already familiar fishing small town of Llanes. After a lunch we arrive to Laredo – the final stop of our route, the city well-known 6-km sandy beach. The route comes over with a goodbye dinner and some souvenirs detail for participants! On a route there are 4 stops for pictures, snacks and lunch.
8th Day. Breakfast in the hotel, organizational issues and a transfer in the airport, or you might go on your own route.
